Introductory Lab Course.

What do I have to do in order to get into the Introductory Lab Course?

The course has basically two requirements:

  • successful completion of the course Chemical Laboratory Safety, including the fire-drill
  • attend the preliminary meeting for the Introductory Lab Course

Both requirements serve to ensure lab safety and attendance is not negotiable!

Course: Chemical Laboratory Safety

This two-part course consists of an online video that includes an online examination as well as a mandatory fire-extinguishing exercise.

You must successfully pass the online examination.

The fire-extinguishing exercise: Students will be divided into groups and assigned a specific time. Students are required to attend and actively take part! If you are sick on this day, there will be another fire-extinguishing exercise on (please contact Prof. Paulik if you plan to take part).

Once you have successfully passed the online examination and actively taken part in the fire-extinguishing exercise, you will receive confirmation of participation for the course Chemical Laboratory Safety in KUSSS and you can then sign up in KUSSS to take the Introductory Lab Course.

Preliminary meeting for the Introductory Lab Course

Before you can be accepted to the Introductory Lab Course, you will be required to attend the preliminary meeting to learn more about the exact course schedule, laboratory rules, and other organizational matters.

There will be two preliminary meetings held at the same time - one in German and one in English (if you are fluent in both languages, you can opt to choose which meeting to attend).
